A General Update

I am still working at Helvia and living peacefully in my little hometown with my beautiful companion. I am happy with that. I don’t want to live in big cities and, as I grow older, I feel I am attracted more and more to nature and the countryside. Not that I am in the countryside, but to give you an idea. I am in the perfect compromise between my “I wanna go living in the middle of a forest” and my partner “I don’t want to live too far away.” My hometown is also growing more interesting in the last years, with more events and cultural activities and sport events and new shops.

December is always a sweet month. I usually take 2 weeks of vacation, work slows down, there are Christmas lights, family dinners and it feels like a great recovering time. I have the feeling that something is a bit cracked this year… but we will see.

Things I did recently

• I’ve done the new Advent of Code in Gleam. I like the new 12-days format. I will stop at 12 anyway (I like to live the actual Christmas time in December). I liked also Gleam, up to a certain point. I plan to write a small retrospective during my vacation time.

Things I am Working On

As someone with more ideas than time or energy to pursue them, this list will be a mess. But anyway, here’s what I’m working on:

• I am sitting on 3 first-draft novels I will have to revise at some point.
  • I am now really focusing on my second novel, Boss Fight. It bothers me that I never finished the rewrite after the first short draft I made during NaNoWriMo. So, I want this done.
• Still sporadically writing on my Italian blog L’Ornitorinco Elegante. Not as frequent as I wish, but I am just a single person.
• Everything else (blog posts and personal projects) are in a confusing mess, but I am kinda working things out.
• I am finally working on my personal journaling app called “Captain’s Log.” This was in my someday list for years.

Things I am Reading

During my vacation trip in August, I discovered the litRPG genre and I read all the seven books series (so far) of Dungeon Crawler Carl. It was really good and I liked it way more than I expected. Now I am jumping from small book to small book looking for a new direction.

Things I am Watching

In 2024, I watched almost 200 movies. I rediscovered my movie passion and that I actually have a lot of time for them if I remove all the useless crap I did in their place.

In 2025, I watched less, but I am consistently keeping a streak of 1 movie per week at minimum.

• I subscribed to Apple TV+ once again. It is time to catch up to all the series I missed such the new season of Foundation, Pluribus, The Studio and more.
• I am watching/rewatching all the 007 movies. It will take a while.

Things I am Playing

I am playing a bit more on my Steam Deck.

I got a Switch 2 because I am a sucker. I didn’t had a lot of time to play, but Gioia is enjoying Mario Kart World. :)

In November I finally started Baldur’s Gate 3. I don’t know why, but RPGs remember me of Christmas, so I think it is the right time.
